Fun & Easy Things to Do with Bay Area Kids During School Break

Looking for things to do with kids during school break? Whether you're staying local or just need fresh ideas, I’ve got you covered with fun, easy, and family-friendly things to do in the Bay Area!

From indoor play areas for kids to outdoor adventures, here are some of our favorite picks:

Visit a New Museum

The Palo Alto Junior Museum & Zoo is one of the best museums for both toddlers and big kids! Plus, they offer Flamingo feedings daily at 11 AM and 3 PM, included with admission.

Sensory Play & Art

Check out a kids' sensory play pop-up or an art studio. Oogubi has pop-ups during the week- ( adults get in free).

Take a Ferry Adventure

Hop on a ferry to Angel Island (just 12 minutes!) for a hiking trail with kids and breathtaking views. A perfect outdoor adventure!

California Academy of Sciences

One of our top fun activities for kids near me! This museum has interactive exhibits, a play area, and endless learning fun.

Visit Farm Animals

Meet friendly animals at Tilden Little Farm (Berkeley), Deer Hollow Ranch (Cupertino), Slide Ranch (Muir Beach), or Animal Assisted Happiness (Sunnyvale). Looking for even more? Where to see farm animals in the Bay Area is listed on my blog!

Presidio Outpost Playground & Field Station

A great free thing to do with kids! This space offers hours of fun in a scenic setting. Don't miss the Field station for some more free exploration.

Sonoma TrainTown + a Family-Friendly Winery

A perfect day trip! Ride the train at Sonoma TrainTown, then stop by Larson Family Winery before grabbing dinner in downtown Sonoma.

Library Storytime & Free Activities

Local libraries offer free kids' activities! Pro tip: Visit one with a nearby playground. Central Park Library in Santa Clara is next to a toddler-friendly playground, a duck pond, and the brand-new Magical Bridge Playground.

Indoor Play Spaces

Need rainy day activities for kids? Try Imagination City in San Mateo—one of the best indoor playgrounds for toddlers! More indoor play areas for kids are listed on my blog.
